Our board members, a diverse group of experts with deep roots in urban development, law, and community advocacy, are at the forefront of this transformative journey. Each member brings a unique perspective, informed by years of experience and a commitment to the city's wellbeing. Together, they're not just setting the agenda for housing policy; they're actively engaging with communities, listening to residents' needs, and crafting innovative solutions that prioritize affordability, sustainability, and inclusivity. Aron Bornstein

Aron Bornstein

Board Member, Co-Chair, Treasurer

A lawyer, real estate developer, and property owner, Aron Bornstein knows that property taxes can place a heavy burden on businesses and residents, and he works tirelessly to see those taxes reduced. He has filed thousands of property tax appeals throughout the Chicago area and the state, and has an impressive success rate. Prior to setting up his own practice, Aron was an associate with Schiff Hardin LLP and served as a law clerk in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Corey Oliver

Corey Oliver

Board Member, Local Affordable Housing Provider

Corey Oliver, a dedicated real estate professional from Chicago's south side, is the CEO of Strength in Management and a champion of affordable housing. With 15 years of experience, Corey has significantly impacted some of Chicago's most challenging communities, managing over 400 units across the south and west sides. His notable achievements include developing a 60-unit multifamily building in the South Shore neighborhood and playing a pivotal role in CVIC's growth, increasing its asset portfolio to approximately $30M. Corey is actively involved in various groups like the South Side Community Investors Association and the National Building Owners Alliance, contributing to discussions on market trends and the shortage of affordable housing. His commitment extends to stabilizing 1,000 mismanaged units in collaboration with the Preservation Compact and the city of Chicago. Passionate about shaping the future of this sector, Corey also dedicates his time to mentoring students as a volunteer advisor at Roosevelt University’s Real Estate Master’s program, building on his diverse background that includes being a certified NBPA/FIBA sports agent.

Miguel Chacon

Miguel Chacon

Board Member, Local Affordable Housing Provider

Miguel, a seasoned real estate expert with over 15 years of experience, is deeply rooted in Chicago's property landscape. A University of Illinois at Chicago graduate with a focus on urban political science, urban studies, and economics, he has honed his skills in residential and investment sales, landlord and tenant representation, and retail site selection. Miguel's keen eye for market trends and ability to see opportunities in challenges has led him to successfully reposition investment properties for maximum value. He owns and develops a portfolio of properties in Chicago, focusing on emerging communities. As an active community member, he chairs the Latino Real Estate Investors Council, advocating for minority property owners and providing education to help communities thrive. His expertise is recognized nationally, as seen in his appearances on "Fox & Friends" and in publications like the Chicago Tribune. Passionate about architecture, Miguel, a proud resident of Pilsen with his family, shares his love for the city's architectural beauty with his children.

AJ Manaseer

AJ Manaseer

Board Member, Local Affordable Housing Provider

With nearly two decades of experience, A.J. brings deep expertise in real estate acquisitions, operations, and investment. Since 2012, A.J. has led Inhabit Realty Group - an investment, brokerage, and management firm focused on the multifamily asset class. A.J. also spent 6 years as Vice President of Acquisitions for The Lynd Company, a Texas-based real estate private equity firm. In 2021, A.J. left Lynd to create a fund dedicated to sourcing, acquiring, and operating multifamily real estate projects and to date has deployed over $55M. Over the course of his career, A.J. has helped clients and partners acquire over 5800 multifamily units totaling over $575M. A.J. holds a BA in Economics from Duke University and an MBA from DePaul University.

Nicholas Katsafados

Nicholas Katsafados

Board Member, Local Affordable Housing Provider

Nicholas is a lifelong native of Chicago and a graduate of Lane Tech. He went on to attend Wright Jr. College, Northeastern Illinois University and National Louis for graduate school. The son of a modest family, his mother a Chicago public school teacher and father a Greek immigrant, he bought his first condo at 21 and slowly built his Chicago real estate portfolio while working in corporate america. Eventually he became a full time housing provider and now focuses on the adaptive reuse of mixed use buildings in commercial corridors of Chicago. A proponent of fair consistent housing policy that promotes market based solutions. Nicholas currently lives on the northwest side in the neighborhood he is currently focused on developing.
